We’re all about new traditions here at It’s A Wonderful Light, and you should be too! What better way to enjoy the seasons and capture the memories than to make it your own? We’ve put together a few things to add to your bucket list this fall that are simple and definitely worth it. Check out our 6 new traditions to start this fall: 1. Pumpkin Patch Head to your local pumpkin patch and pick out pumpkins. This is a great activity for all ages. See how the pumpkins grow, and the scenery always provides a great backdrop for photos. Most farms around Chicago have much more than just pumpkins too…grab some locally grown vegetables and home made salsa while you’re there…just don’t forget the pumpkins. 2. Apple Picking Apple Picking In OrchardWhy settle for store-bought fruit when you can pick your own and make a tradition out of it? Visit your local apple orchard and pick apples. A lot of orchards offer special events for children that include hayrides, horse rides, and more…go a step further and make some homemade applesauce and a fresh apple pie when you get home. Yum! 3. Jump in a pile of leaves Boys Playing In The LeavesYes, please! You remember doing this as a kid, don’t you? Rake in all the leaves you can and jump in. You’ll be so glad you did…it is as fun as it looks, trust us. It’s also a great way to capture some festive family photos. 4. Thankful Pumpkins Thankful pumpkins In addition to carving pumpkins this year, start a new tradition and get the entire family involved. Add one more pumpkin to your mix, and have everyone write down what they’re thankful for this year. Get a little creative and decorate your pumpkin like this one pictured above, or simply grab a sharpie and pass it around. A creative new way to show gratitude this fall. We love it. 5. Donate food & volunteer your time Donate food & volunteerStart a tradition that will make someone else’s fall brighter too- and donate. You can donate non-perishables to your local food depository or you can donate your time to a local shelter or non-profit. Either way, you’ll be happy you started this tradition.
